J. Craig Venter Institute Construction, La Jolla, CA, for McCarthy Building Companies

The new $35 million J. Craig Venter Institute is a 45,000 square-foot laboratory facility located in La Jolla, California, within the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) campus. Named for the famed genomic pioneer who, in 1995, led the team who decoded the genome of the first free-living organism, this facility is designed to be the most environmentally friendly and only “net zero energy” biological laboratory in the world.  The new J. Craig Venter Institute is envisioned to support approximately 125 scientists and other staff to further the organization’s goals in genomic research and policy.  Commencing in 2013, in the middle-phase of construction, TRG implemented Last Planner® System with robust Weekly Work Planning.

Work Sessions include:

  • Last Planner® and System training and coaching
